Here is another of our ever-more-infrequent polls.

The idea for this came up because we have a recent high school graduate in the house and she is a Star Trek fan.

What would you consider to be among the best ideas for Science Fiction related graduation gifts? A USB communicator/web phone? An authentic Starfleet uniform? something else? Let us here your ideas in the comments.

Ignoring, for the moment, the fact that we’re talking about fictional characters and also ignoring the fact that neither of them is actually qualified for the job, not being human and all, if Spock and Data were running for President of the United States, which one would get your vote?

It was advertised on the SyFy channel that, for the Fourth of July, Sunday and Monday they will be running a Twilight Zone marathon.

While I, personally, don’t care for some of the changes that went into effect when they changed their name from SciFi to Syfy – Hollywood Collector, for example, has Nothing to do with Science Fiction 99% of the time – I do love a good Twilight Zone marathon.

My favorite Twilight Zone episode is a toss-up between “Walking Distance“, in which a man travels back to his hometown at a time when he was a child, “Time Enough At Last“, in which Burgess Meredith plays a hen-pecked husband who never gets time to read his precious books until after a nuclear incident, and “Nightmare At 20,000 Feet” which features William Shatner as a terrified first-time flier who sees something on the wing of the plane.

What’s your favorite Twilight Zone Episode? Answer in the comments.

The results of our previous poll, “Which Enterprise Has The Best Bridge” are in. It was a three-way tie between TOS’s NCC-1701, TNG’s NCC-1701-D, and NCC-1701-E from the TNG-based movies.

Personally, I’d have to go with Kirk’s bridge layout. All the others lack a captain’s chair that swivels, meaning that the captain can’t easily see everything going on around him. In my not-so-humble opinion, that’s just a bad design. Seriously, if you had a Klingon standing over your left shoulder, you’d want to be able to keep an eye on him, wouldn’t you?

This week’s poll question is, “Which character would you most like to go out on the town with?”

Post your answer in the comments below.

After way too much delay, here are the results of our previous poll, “Which is your favorite Star Wars movie?

There were a grand total of THREE, count’ em THREE votes. The results were a tie, with Episodes 4, 5, and 6 each receiving 33% (one vote) of the total.

For this week’s poll, we’re going back to Star Trek Which Enterprise has the best bridge?
