Giant Lasagna or Alien Acne Monster?

Do you Star Trek fans recognize this creature?

We were having a debate about the Horta from Season One’s “Devil In The Dark”. The debate revolved around whether the creature looked more like a giant lasagna or a gigantic alien zit.

What do you think is the proper way to defeat this alien? Do you grab a fork and start eating as fast as you can before it eats you or do you grab a huge container of the universe’s best acne treatment and go to town?

Maybe we have developed something of a twisted sense of humor, but looking at this picture, the only caption that comes to mind is something on the order of, “You will give us all of your acne remedies or we will be forced to destroy your ship as an example to others of your kind.”

While stumbling around the web this weekend we ran into a blog called Damn Cool Pics where they had posted some Damn Cool Pics from the original Star Wars movie. Some of them look like either promotional shots or stills that were salvaged from the cutting room floor while others look as though one of the people working behind the scenes showed up with a Canon camera one day and got some truly unique pictures, such as the one shown here.

We had no idea that Carrie Fisher was so short, of course it could just be that she’s standing in front of 7-foot 1.75 inch Peter Mayhew who played Chewbacca.

If you’ve spent much time looking at funny pictures on the internet, then you’ve doubtlessly run into “demotivational posters”. These posters are parodies of the “Motivational Posters” that were big in the office environment a while back. The difference here is that instead of inspiring you to achieve success, these are intended more as a humorous distraction.

Here are a few Star Trek-related demotivational posters that can be found:
