One of my favorite episodes of Quantum Leapis the second-season episode titled “What Price Gloria?”.

In the beginning of the episode, Sam leaps into his next host and the first thing you notice other than the bathroom lighting is the fact that he’s in a bathtub. From outside the door, a woman’s voice yells something like, “Sam, hurry up”. Sam is absolutely ecstatic because this is the first time since he’s started leaping that someone has called him Sam.

Getting out of the tub, he checks the mirror and learns that in this case, “Sam” is short for “Samantha” and this is also the first time his host has been female.

“Oh Boy”

We were talking recently about good science fiction television shows and the question came up as to whether fans of Treknicalities would be interested in episode reviews of the show Quantum Leap starring Scott Bakula and Dean Stockwell, done in the same manner as the episode reviews we’re doing for Star Trek and The Incredible Hulk.

So, the question goes to the readers: To Leap or not to Leap?

The Incredible Hulk

The seventh episode of The Incredible Hulk, titled “747″ originally aired on this date in 1978. This was a really good episode that reunites Bixby with Brandon Cruz, who played his son in The Courtship Of Eddie’s Father. The episode also features a scene in which David must attempt to land an aircraft while fighting off a Hulk transformation.

Plot Summary
David boards a plane from L.A. to New York in hopes of catching a doctor who may be able to help with his condition before the doctor leaves for Europe. Unfortunately, the plane’s co-pilot has conspired with one of the stewardesses to steal some Egyptian artifacts from the hold after disabling the flight crew. The plot goes wrong, and the lives of all the passengers are now n David’s hands.

The Incredible Hulk

Episode six of The Incredible Hulk, titled “Terror In Times Square”, was originally aired on this date in 1978.

The episode features one of the show’s most famous scenes: The Hulk running wild through the streets of New York during rush hour. If you’ve ever been stuck in the Big Apple’s rush hour, this otherwise average episode is worth watching for that scene alone.

Plot Summary

David takes a job in a New York arcade, where he develops a close friendship with the arcade owner and his daughter. Unfortunately, the unscrupulous plans of an underworld figure places all of their lives in danger.

The Incredible Hulk

The fifth episode of The Incredible Hulk, “Of Guilt, Models, And Murder” was first aired on this date in 1978. This was a well-done murder mystery with David trying to figure out if the Hulk may have killed the dead woman he found next to him after a transformation. Guest stars include Loni Anderson of WKRP in Cincinnati and Jeremy Brett, who would go on to play Sherlock Holmes in several television series and movies between 1984 and 1994.

Plot Summary

David emerges from one of his transformations, at the scene of a murder. Believing that the creature might have killed a young model, David attempts to “put together” the events leading up to the murder by investigating the crime scene and the characters close to the model during her last hours.
